Thinking about that flag and our brief history at Cat Island Club, I sometimes think of the “why” we do what we do. As we all know, any start up is a challenge and at times puts additional stress on us. You would think a golf club is immune from such thoughts, but our quest is to make Cat Island Club something incredibly special; patience is not always figured into the equation. I was reminded of the ‘why’ today when I got the news of our PGA Junior League match last night against Pinecrest Golf Club in Bluffton. Our juniors had the time of their lives competing and having a ball on the golf course, while representing Cat Island Club—their home course. Our team consisted of the following future champions:
- Wallace Simmons
- Hugh Crumrine
- Randolph Murdaugh
- Henry Amundson
- Emmett Dyson
- Brison Jones
The PGA Junior League is an initiative started by the PGA of America where juniors compete in a fun and competitive format with other clubs in a team atmosphere. The teams wear numbered jerseys like other junior sports teams and the emphasis is building future ladies and gentlemen through this wonderful game.
June is “Ladies Golf Month” and therefore, we’d like to invite ALL ladies reading this note (and your friends) to experience Cat Island Club firsthand. We want you all to come and play CIC for a cart fee only, just by making a tee time! Ladies, this is your opportunity to play at Beaufort’s newest private club. Simply call the golf shop at 843-524-2000 ext. 101 to book a tee time. Times are available each day until the end of the month. We’re also hosting a FREE Ladies Clinic on Saturday the 22nd. All ladies are invited to participate, but please be aware, members will have top priority and space is limited. Call the golf shop to get on the list for our free ladies clinic next Saturday. When visiting the club, please stop in my office and say hello. I always enjoy spending time with golfers and people who love the game, as we do.
Our Golden Ticket summer promotion is still underway. To all the Dads out there, Happy Father’s Day this weekend. I’ve had many titles over the years, but being called Dad is the best blessing that I can ever imagine. I hope you all enjoy the weekend, watching the US Open Championship and getting to hit a few shots at the Club. Be sure to stop by the Cabana Bar for our Father’s Day special; Burgers, Brats, & Brews! If you can’t make it on Sunday, the Cabana is hosting Luau Day on Saturday. The special menu will be better than a vacation to Hawaii. Plus, all of your friends and fellow members will be here to celebrate with you!
