The Cat Island Weekly Update: March 14th

Mar 14, 2025 | Weekly Update

Dear Friends of Cat Island Club,

The colors of spring are upon us! Unfortunately, everyone is sharing the same color as it’s officially pollen season in the Lowcountry. It’s also daylight savings time and that has “flipped the switch” to golf into the wee hours of the evening. We hosted our first Grass Masters of the season last night with a ‘talented’ group of members and their guests. Grass Masters is a weekly game at CIC where we play a three player scramble for nine-holes. Great fun and comradery with a few libations at the end of the night. If you are not a member, you have two ways to play each week. One is to have a member invite you to play on their team or better yet, join the club and form your own team! Grass Masters is a summer staple at Cat Island Club and “the” place to play if you’re looking for a little competition and a lot of fun.

Each Friday during Lent, Chef Corey is hosting our Fish Fry. Your choice of Cod, Catfish or Mahi comes with a delicious variety of side dishes. Make your reservations at reservations@catislandclub.com and enjoy the season with your fellow members. Remember, Cat Island Club also delivers to all residents of the island during March and April, so even if you can’t get to us, we can get to you.

This Sunday is our St. Patrick’s Day brunch service. We have a special menu for the holiday celebration that will feature favorites from our friends in Ireland. What Irish brunch would be complete without some delicious Irish coffee or Guinness? See you on Sunday!

This weekend is all about the US Kids South Carolina Invitational on the golf course. Today is the practice round for the 127 competitors from 6 different countries and 24 states. It warms my heart to see the families of these future champions as they nervously watch their children compete. I heard a story this morning from a host club of a US Kids event in Texas who has a picture of a young 11-year-old champion named Jordan Spieth. Rumor has it that he still visits the club each year and always gives a wink to the club who shows their pride of hosting of these events many years ago.

As many of you know, Cat Island Club has been a friend of our bravest veterans with a variety of events. Later this year, we’ll be hosting the Veteran’s Golf Association again. We always host our local heroes during Memorial Day weekend, our as we call it Patriots Golf Weekend. I proudly serve on the Board for the Palmetto Chapter of the Folds of Honor and our company Resort Development Partners has expanded our role with this wonderful organization. With that being said, I want to promote the Palmetto Freedom Invitational at Palmetto Bluff on April 28th. There is still time to register to play for you and/or your team and many other ways to support the Folds of Honor at this event. Please see the information at the bottom of this note to get involved in the FOH event at Palmetto Bluff. On behalf of the families that we assist each year—thank you for showing your love and support.

Well friends, as the pollen is floating by, it’s time to play golf, enjoy dining at Cat Island Club and soon, the spectacular pool will open at CIC and the burgers and drinks will be served poolside. What a great life to live at Cat Island Club. If you are interested in joining the Cat Island Club family, please never hesitate to reach out to me and I’ll be happy to spend the time giving you a tour and share the vision for the future of this great club.

With warmest regards,
Tim Mervosh
General Manager
