We had a great party last week to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the opening of our Clubhouse. The Labor Day weekend started with a pool party and ended with live music on the Oak Patio with members dancing the night away with the Debbie McDaniels Band. We enjoyed a smoked pig and brisket plus all the “fixin’s” to make the evening truly special.

This weekend is our inaugural Sr./ Jr. tournament on the golf course. This is a fun event with those ‘young’ guys (under 50) marveling at the talents of us more seasoned players (over 50). The event is a mixed team championship, but I’m still in the 50 plus camp for toeing the line.

Another momentous event that you would expect from CIC is our Parent / Child Championship next weekend. I have such wonderful memories of playing in these events with our son many years ago. We still talk about those events and how much fun we had. Those are the memories for life that can only be made competing together on the golf course.

The first annual Member / Guest Championship is now two weeks away. I know that Keith has a few surprises up his sleeve to ensure that the players will take home some special recollections from the first Member / Guest Championship. Just think, many years from now, our 2024 Champions will have their name on top of the list of past winners. Clubs are all about tradition and one of the most traditional events at every private club is the Member / Guest.

Another great benchmark in September is the return of the ever-popular Sunday Brunch service. Starting on Sunday the 15th, Brunch returns to Cat Island Club from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Be sure to make your reservations at reservations@catislandclub.com.

Next Wednesday, September 11th is our family night– and BINGO night. Our specials for the night will be pizza and pasta. We’ll also have a special cocktail and pricing as we raise a glass for those lost on this day 23 years ago. We’ll never forget.

Now that the thermometers are a little less red these days, fall golf is the absolute best time of year. If you are thinking about membership, the calendar for the golf course is full of fun and competitive events for all levels of play. The course itself is in spectacular condition and you can always find a game with our CIC members. As stated in our video, “We love golf, and those who play, right here on our little slice of heaven.”
