It’s not just the golf course that’s happy. The members who are enjoying the golf course are all “really” happy as well. Our course has been open over the past three weekends and, as April turns to May, we’ll be adding days of the week to the tee sheet along with extended hours. We continue to aim at Memorial Day weekend for our Grand Opening of the golf course. There will be plenty of pomp and circumstance around the ribbon cutting, flag raising, golf, food, beverages, and camaraderie. We hope that everyone reading this update will make plans to attend at least parts of the Grand Opening. The membership will be treated to a spectacular celebration on the golf course and pool that weekend. I will send out more information about the celebration as we get closer to that date.
This past week we officially welcomed our new Executive Chef, Lucas Cheek, to the team. Lucas focused his efforts on purchasing fresh fruits, vegetables, seafood, and meats all from local vendors and farms. His menu includes only the finest ingredients. The new Cabana Menu is attached to this note; based on the comments from the first night of Lucas creating our dinner entrees, we’re all in for a treat—literally as Chef Lucas continues to raise the bar in the dining experience at Cat Island Club.
Our kitchen at the clubhouse will follow the golf course Grand Opening as the kitchen equipment arrives and is installed. We will have a state-of-the-art kitchen in place soon, for which we’ll have a separate celebration at the clubhouse once that is ready to unveil.
Until then, our Cabana Bar and Grill will remain our headquarters for party central! We will be serving dinner each night this weekend (4-7 PM). Starting next week, we’ll have dinner service Thursday through Sunday and we’ll be serving lunch poolside on Saturdays and Sundays. Like the golf course, we’ll be adding dinner service evenings to the Cabana over the next few weeks. The Cabana Bar is a great place to have a cocktail or any cold beverage while watching a game on one of our TVs or listening to live music. We have happy hour pricing each night Thursday through Sunday!
Head Golf Professional, Keith Maher, will be hosting a ladies-only “Sips and Tips” clinic on Wednesday, May 3rd from 5:00 until 6:30 on the practice range. We’ll be serving wine and crudites with the clinic. Our Assistant Golf Course Superintendent, Joey Lama, will be spending the week in Charlotte at the Wells Fargo Championship for the PGA Tour. Joey will be volunteering with the golf course maintenance team to prepare the Quail Hollow Club for the tournament.

As we say goodbye to April, we will remain laser-focused on our golf course as the course continues to break dormancy and mature right before our eyes. Remember, you DO NOT have to be a resident of Cat Island to join the Cat Island Club. Our only requirement is that you enjoy your membership experience and fellow members. Have fun and relax! We have plenty of social events, plans, and parties for you and your family to attend; or just lay around the pool, sip a cocktail, play a round of golf, and have dinner on the Oak Patio soon. That’s what membership looks like at Cat Island Club. It will be your favorite place to be!
With warmest regards,
Tim Mervosh
