Until then, it’s time to play golf! The kids are back in school, and parents need a reward for the most important job on the planet. There is nothing like a round of golf to bring families together or just clear your head of the daily muck that builds before happy hour. There are so many great reasons to play golf—relaxation, fueling your competitive juices, exercise, camaraderie, gambling, fresh air—you name it, you get it from golf. Sure, there is a little frustration and angst built in too, but that’s for another article.
And now to the highlights (so you can get back to happy hour!):
Golf
- We held a meeting with many of our golf members in attendance this week to discuss our golf associations.
– Senior Golf will be played on Tuesday mornings for seasoned gentlemen aged 60 and over.
– Our Ladies will play both 9 holes and 18 holes on Wednesday mornings.
– Wednesday evenings will be our time for the Emergency Nine. This will be a weekly event for all members.
– Fridays are the infamous Nine and Dine for couples in a less competitive but always fun format. Dinner in the clubhouse after golf is the goal for bringing everyone together.
– Saturday mornings will be our Men’s Golf Association events. We’ll mix the formats between four-ball, partners and singles. - Our goal is to bring members together to always have a game and to build traditions that will build the history of this club.
- We also discussed our Member / Mixer events like our annual Flag Tournament, Oyster Bowl, Master’s Par 3 and many other events that will fulfill our goals of member engagement.
- No club would be complete without Major Championships. At Cat Island Club, we’re planning our annual Member-Guest Championship, Club Championships, Member/ Members and Match Play Championships.
- Our weekly events will begin after the Labor Day holiday and the remaining calendar will fill in for the fall and into 2024.
- Tomorrow, we are honored to host the Adaptive Golf Program from 9:00 until 11:00 on the practice tee.
- Members will be able to make tee times online soon.
Membership
- Our Summer Member Incentive Drive continues through September, so members who invite new members to the club will be rewarded in multiple ways!
- For those potential members out there looking to join as Golf Members, please send me a note at tmervosh@resortdevpartners.com and I’ll be happy to introduce you to an ambassador member and walk you through the very simple process.
- Membership continues to grow and we’re so excited to welcome so many new faces to the club each week.
Clubhouse
- All of the major kitchen equipment is now on site!
- Installation will be completed early next week.
- Once all of the equipment has been installed and operational, we’ll be awaiting inspections in order to begin cooking in the kitchen.
- Within the next few days, we’ll also be receiving all of our ancillary equipment for the kitchen. (i.e., all of the “stuff” needed for every kitchen)
- Our China, Glass and Silverware designs have also been selected and will be delivered within the next several days.
- We’re planning our Grand Opening Party for September 9th. I hope you all will be there.
– The reservation list will be on Clubster early next week for members to sign up. - More dates for soft opening and such will be sent to the membership as soon as possible.
Racquet Sports
- Adult and kids group clinics will be set up for September for both Tennis and Pickleball.
- Contact Jill Wilson at jill@catislandclub.com for more information and registration.
Cat Island Club Life
- Don’t forget the Labor Day Pool party on September 2nd. The Bar & Grill will be open 12-8 PM, with live music from the Debbie McDaniel’s band from 1-4 PM.
- Save the date for Friday, September 8th! The Club is excited to host Laura Elizabeth for an exclusive meet the author and book reading experience. “All is Now Lost” is the first book in the Island Mysteries series set right here in the Lowcountry. Themed cocktails and desserts will round out the evening! Be on the lookout for more details on Clubster soon.
- The Cabana Bar and Grill continue to celebrate the summer season Tuesday-Sunday from 12-8 PM, featuring Chef’s locally sourced menu. Don’t forget about Happy Hour on Tuesday and Wednesday from 4-7 PM!
For all of our golfers, stay hydrated and don’t forget to grab an iced towel from the bag drop before teeing off. The autumn weather is on the horizon, so be patient. As you can see, we’ve got great plans for golf, dining, social activities, and family events. Life is good—especially at Cat Island Club!
With warmest regards,
Tim Mervosh
