Last night, we hosted a strong field of competitors for Grass Masters. The Thursday evening showers seem to pop up all around us each week, but like the mail carriers, our Grass Masters players always show up, rain or shine.
For those who haven’t played CIC recently (or would like another round) we’re hosting a special Guest Day on Friday, August 22. Surely you know a Cat Island Club member who would love to host you for this special event.
Speaking of hosting guests, we’re just over a month away from our Fall Member/Guest Championship, taking place September 19–21. This three-day celebration of friendship and golf begins Friday with a practice round, followed by nine-hole four-ball matches on Saturday and Sunday. The weekend will culminate in a Sunday afternoon shoot-out to crown the 2025 Member/Guest Champions! With a full spread of food and beverages, it’s sure to be a weekend to remember. Members, please call the golf shop for more information and to register your team.
If you’ve been following these Friday updates, you know I’m passionate about both the game of golf and honoring traditions. As a teaser (because the final details are still being worked out) we’ll soon be making an exciting announcement that blends the great game of golf with a nod to traditions of years past. Remember, the Resurrection Fern is our club logo! Stay tuned.
While our club is serving up fantastic lunches for our ladies, memorable dinners for our members, and exceptional tournaments on the course, we’re adding something new: an old-fashioned Carnival! On Friday evening, August 29, we’ll host the first annual “Carnival Cat”. I can already smell the cotton candy, and rumor has it the dunk tank will be a popular spot for anyone who’d like to see a few familiar faces get dunked. Norman Rockwell would be proud, we’re turning the clock back in true “Slow Country” style.
With warmest regards,
Tim Mervosh
General Manager
