The Cat Island Weekly Update: August 9th

Aug 12, 2024 | Weekly Update

Dear Cat Island Club Friends,

I sincerely hope that everyone reading this note made it though Hurricane / Tropical Storm Debby over the last week. While our golf course realized well over a foot of rainfall, we were spared any long-lasting damage and I’m so pleased to announce that we’ll be open tomorrow with cart traffic. Obviously said traffic is restricted to the paths, but open, nonetheless. Our practice range opened today and I’m sure for those of you suffering from cabin fever, the range tee is calling your name!

It was nice to see the sunshine after the slow-moving storm dumped on us for several days (well short of the record by the way; 40 days and 40 nights). However, it gave us a chance to count our blessings and continue to provide a wonderful experience for our members. Our first early bird dining special and family night dinner were a tremendous success on Wednesday. Our members enjoyed Taco Night and our early bird specials included smaller portions of some of our more popular entrees with a starter and beverage for an “all-inclusive” experience.

Next week, our Wednesday Family night will be BBQ with ribs and BBQ chicken for the adults and pork sliders for the kiddos. Freshly baked cornbread and mac and cheese should make next week’s family night a very popular choice. Future Family nights will be pasta night and breakfast for dinner.

We also have a very special announcement from our culinary team! Starting next week, we will be featuring freshly made pizzas. Next week’s nightly specials will be everyone’s favorite—Pizza! Chef Jacob and our entire team have been working on getting all the various ingredients just right. Starting next week, members will be the judges and enjoy a steaming homemade hot pizza in the dining room or call the dining room for a “to go” pizza.

We’re planning a great Asian inspired Wine Dinner next Saturday night. Four courses with 5 different wines will kick off at 6:00 PM. If you are looking for a special evening that you can’t find in Beaufort, make your reservation now for next week’s Wine dinner at the club.

Not only did Debby saturate our golf course, but it also forced us to reschedule our monthly, nine and dine golf event. In the spirit of our wine month, our next nine and dine will actually be a “nine and wine” on Friday the 23rd. We’ll be serving wine and a light snack “before” golf this night, which should in fact, help your golf game. In addition to the swing lube, we will host a 30-minute free mini clinic on the range prior to the shotgun start. So, a little wine, a little tip from the pro; what’s not to like about that?

Also, there is still time to sign up for our Member Guest Championship for September 20-21st. Call the golf shop for more information and details of this great new tradition at Cat Island Club.

We’re so excited about where we are as a club and where we’re going. Remember, if you are reading this note and thinking about joining our club, you are more than welcome to dine with us each Tuesday through the end of September. Just make your reservations at reservations@catislandclub.com.

If you’re thinking about golf membership, now is a wonderful time to join Cat Island Club. We’ve experienced tremendous growth over the past few months and we’re still going strong. Never hesitate to call me to set up an appointment for a tour of our club and I’ll be happy to share the vison for the future of this wonderful property.

Stay safe friends and all the very best for the coming weeks.

With warmest regards,
Tim Mervosh
General Manager
