Then the conversation switched to our courses, his course in Texas and our Cat Island Club. Obviously, many miles apart but so similar in many ways. George Cobb did an amazing job of “finding” this golf course amongst the marshlands, incredible live oaks and thick forests of the Lowcountry. My friend’s course in Texas is much newer. While layouts and design have evolved, great golf courses have several things in common. It was a refreshing conversation from two old friends that have been blessed to be a part of the culture of golf and growing up as “students of the game.”
So, what does that lead in have to do with Cat Island Club this week? Regardless of the time or year or weather that we’re experiencing it’s simple—we love the game of golf and those who play it, as we state in our Club video. We wish to nurture all of the students of the game for many years to come. As the game changes to giant simulators in stadiums with mechanical green complexes to TopGolf facilities that are great nights for dates and drinks, there will always be a place where you sling a bag on your shoulder and hit shots into a cool summer breeze onto well-manicured putting surfaces as the sun settles into the horizon. A place where you can take your children to learn about calling penalties on themselves and to remove their caps when shaking hands with their fellow competitors. This is the game that has withstood the test of time and will live forever in our hearts and memories. A game where friends from across the country can catch up after years of being apart and talk about tough lies and heroic recoveries. Ahh, the game of golf is calling!
We hosted our Icebreaker event today at CIC with so many friends. We’re kicking off our golf season with members who enjoy one another’s company, camaraderie, and a little spirited competition. Afterwards, we shared some drinks, some snacks and laughs to further cement our friendships. If this is the way you would like to spend your time on the golf course, perhaps membership at Cat Island Club is right for you and your family. Please never hesitate to reach out to me at tmervosh@resortdevpartners.com to schedule a time to take a tour of Beaufort’s newest and most fun private club.
For those of you who live on Cat Island, please remember, we are now delivering lunch and dinner to your homes. Call the clubhouse at 843-524-2000 ext. 105 to place your order for delivery (or pick up). From now until the end of April, we’re inviting all residents to enjoy the hospitality of CIC, so please pass on the word to your neighbors! Remember, we deliver Wednesday through Saturday evenings this time of year. After March 1st, add Tuesdays to the list. See the full menu below or call the club for daily and weekly specials.
Friends, we’d love to add you to our Cat Island Club family where we treat members like guests and guests like members! I’m looking forward to meeting you soon. As my friend who lives in Texas would say, “Be the right club today!”
With warmest regards,
Tim Mervosh
