Our summer fun does not end on Independence Day. In fact, it’s just getting started! This coming week, we’ll be hosting our Grass Masters Soiree on Thursday afternoon at the Cabana. We’re inviting everyone who has been enjoying our Thursday night Grass Masters events to meet their families at the pool after golf for drink specials, light hor d’ouevres and dinner poolside. We want to invite your spouses and families to enjoy the pool and Cabana all day on Thursday and when play concludes in the evening, we’ll all meet at the Cabana for dinner, drinks, and storytelling!
As you know Chef Jacob has been offering Prime Rib night once a month over the past few months. While the beef is absolutely mouthwatering, the summer season is time for a change. Starting July 25th, we’ll be hosting our Summer Seafood Night each month. We’ll be offering a Lowcountry Boil with fresh local shrimp and a Crab Leg Boil along with our regular menu. More details are below in the flyers! Prime Rib will be back when the weather cools a bit, but for now, we’ll take advantage of living in the Lowcountry and enjoy these local favorites.
Due to the Water Festival opening ceremonies, we’re moving the Nine and Dine to the 26th of July. The Nine and Dine is a fantastic way for couples to come together for a little fun on the golf course and a great night of dining with your fellow members after play. We’re teeing off at 5:30 in this low stress, captain’s choice format where the emphasis is on fun and comradery. Members, invite your guests to play in our monthly Nine and Dine and I’m confident that you will be glad you did.
We were so proud to host the South Carolina Golf Association’s Pee Wee championship last weekend. Boys and Girls from ages 7 to 12 competed at the Club for the annual championship. Wilson Cauley from Anderson, South Carolina was the overall Boys Champion with a score of 2 under par for the 36 holes. The Girls Champion was Eloise Fetzer from Charleston. We hope to host this event again in the years to come as it was an honor and treat to see these youngsters playing the game that we love so much.
We also hosted Golf Digest top 100 teacher, Erika Larkin, this week. Erika held her annual Cat Island Club one day clinic on a “cooler than usual” Tuesday. The players all enjoyed the class while they learned the proper techniques to play better and lower their scores. Each clinic participant received a copy of Erika’s newest book, “A True Swing.”
As you can see, Cat Island Club continues to grow in what we offer our members, their guests and in our numbers of members. I am so pleased to report that both May and June saw an astonishing number of new members who joined the club in the last 60 days. Our Golden Ticket summer promotion continues until the end of July, so there is no better time than today to join the Cat Island Club. This promotion allows you to reduce your Initiation Fee for Full Family Golf, Young Executive Family Golf (under age 40) and Founding Membership by $2500 immediately. If you know a Cat Island Club member who still has their Golden Ticket, just ask them about membership at our club. If you’re new to town or golf and would like more information about this summer incentive, feel free to call me anytime. I’m more than happy to host you for a tour of our club and to share the vision for the future of Cat Island Club. I hope that you will be a part of that future!
With warmest regards,
Tim Mervosh
