The Cat Island Weekly Update: June 28th

Jun 28, 2024 | Weekly Update

Dear Cat Island Club Friends,

The second holiday of the season is next week and before you know it, the stores will be having back-to-school sales. The Fourth of July party at the Cabana will begin at 11am with a delicious menu of America’s favorites, burgers, brats, and hotdogs. We’ll celebrate this holiday as we do most at CIC with drink specials, laughter and great food—poolside. On the golf course, we’ll be playing our Red, White, and Blue challenge; but in our case, Front, Back and Middle tees will be in the order of the day in this two-player team event. Call the golf shop to sign up.

This weekend is indeed a special time at the Club. We’re hosting the South Carolina Golf Association’s Pee Wee Championship. This event brings in juniors from around the state under the age of 13 to compete in the coveted Championship. I love watching these young players competing with one another on our course. Not every one of these players will grow up to be a household name, but a future major champion will have started in an event just like this one.

We’re putting a bow on Women’s golf month with our Sips and Tips clinic tomorrow afternoon. The clinic begins at 4:00 and there is still available space in the clinic. Call the golf shop for more details and plan to attend to sharpen your skills while enjoying some social time, and of course wine, with the other ladies.

Speaking of clinics, Erika Larkin, renowned golf instructor will be in town next week. Erika is one of the top teachers in the Nation as recognized by Golf Digest Magazine. Erika’s clinic is sold out this year, but we may be able to coax her to come back in the fall with additional interests from our local players.

For you players who have been playing in our weekly Thursday night Grass Master’s events, there will be no tournament next Thursday (7/4) with the holiday. However, on July 11th, we’re having a special social event, Grass Master’s Soiree, for your families to come to the Cabana and pool that evening where you can join them after play. We want to do what we do best that evening—celebrate! The entire family is welcome to come to the pool and Cabana for drink and dinner specials.

Finally, we’ve had a great month of membership growth. In fact, it was one of the best months ever for Golf Memberships. We enrolled a substantial number of Young Executive Members (under age 40) this month and we’re thrilled to welcome all of these young families to the club. The average age of our membership is under age 55 and, in the club world, that’s a very young membership! We love seeing our juniors splashing in our resort style lagoon pool and playing golf with their parents and friends. We want our young families to grow up at CIC and create lifelong memories for their families and friends at CIC. Whether it’s junior golf, tennis, summer camps or family events, our families can stay engaged together for many years into the future. I’m so excited about what lies ahead for CIC with so many young members here. We’ll grow older and stronger together.

For anyone interested in our golf membership options, the Golden Ticket summer promotion expires at the end of July. Now is the time to join and save $2500 off of your Initiation Fee immediately. Please don’t hesitate to contact me at tmervosh@resortdevpartners.com or my office phone is 843-524-2000 ext. 103.

Have a great weekend everyone and I wish you all a safe and joyous Independence Day celebration next week.

With warmest regards,
Tim Mervosh
General Manager
