Along with the kitchen equipment, we also took delivery of a twenty-foot long and seven-foot-wide walk-in cooler/freezer that was desperately needed for our food and beverage operation goals. It will take a few weeks before all of these elements are ready for action, as there are several more steps necessary before we announce our date for the opening of the clubhouse. Rest assured, the light at the end of the tunnel is getting bigger and brighter every day.
Laura and Lucas have been working on plans for the Clubhouse menu and additional upcoming social events. The Oak Patio overlooking the 18th green will surely be a popular gathering spot for everyone to enjoy their after-golf lunches and dinner under the stars. “If” the heat continues for the next few months, which may be likely, the Wine Room, dining room and bar will be the perfect get out of the heat spot to enjoy a delicious dinner and libations with friends and family. Imagine not having to worry about long wait times and parking issues in order to have a great social night out; that’s our promise to our members at Cat Island Club.
This weekend, we will celebrate Independence Day with the extended holiday. The party starts tonight with our Friday night Happy Hour featuring the one and only Mark Turner as he sings the night away. Tomorrow is the Star-Spangled Pool Bash starting at noon until 8:00 PM. A crowd favorite, Campfire Tyler will be providing the live entertainment for this event. We’ll have fresh grilled burgers, hot dogs, brats and locally caught fish sandwiches compliments of Chef Lucas. Our Cabana bar will be featuring special patriotic cocktails to kick-off the holiday weekend. Sunday is the same hours at the pool, noon until 8:00—but in a more relaxed Lowcountry style day.
Both the golf course and pool will be open on Monday this week. Lunch will be served from 11:00 until 3:00 and tee times will begin at 8:30 that day. Please call the golf shop at 843-524-2000 ext. 101 to reserve your tee times. The Cabana bar and grille will also be serving lunch from 11:00 until 3:00 on Tuesday.
We have two golf events on tap this month for members, starting with the Flag Tournament on Tuesday, July 4th. Members will receive a flag and plant it on the golf course based on their score for the day. See Keith in the golf shop for the rules of play and more information about the Flag Tournament on Independence Day.
The One-Day Member Guest is also on the calendar and filling up, for Wednesday, July 12th. The day will begin with a light lunch served on the Oak Patio prior to play. A better ball format for both ladies and gentlemen will begin with a 1:00 shotgun start. Then, a cocktail reception featuring chef’s creations and prizes will end a perfect day on this George Cobb classic.
Please note, our Pickleball social on July 6th is sold out. We have started a waiting list of names for the pickleball instruction portion of the evening, and everyone is welcome to enjoy the cocktails and appetizers after the lesson. Please call the club if you wish to be placed on the waiting list or would like to attend the second half of the event at the Cabana.
Now that the golf course is open for play six days a week, and the clubhouse will be celebrating the Grand Opening very soon, it is the perfect time to consider membership at Cat Island Club. The golf course has had rave reviews and I’m confident that the clubhouse dining and bar will be equally as satisfying to all. I could not be more proud of what this amazing team of people has accomplished in bringing the Cat Island Club back to life. Please feel free to call me at 843-524-2000 ext. 103 or send me an email at tmervosh@resortdevpartners.com to arrange a tour of the club and amenities. I’ll be happy to share the vision for Cat Island Club; you will be able to see it for yourself as it’s becoming crystal clear as each day goes by.
Happy Independence Day everyone. Enjoy the holiday, be safe and thank God we live in the greatest country on earth! A special thank you to all of America’s finest who protect our shores and liberty. Thank you, Lt. Col Brandt for your service and we were honored to witness the Change of Command ceremony last week at MCAS! Semper Fi.
With warmest regards,
