We have two very special days for all of the ladies in the region who would like to improve their golf games, while also enjoying the Lowcountry’s newest golf destination. First, we’ll have Erika Larkin at Cat Island on June 16th and 17th. Erika has been the top teacher in the state of Virginia since 2014 and Golf Digest named her as one of the top 50 teachers in America in 2022-2023. She has been featured in many Golf Digest magazines, on The Golf Channel and has an incredible following on Instagram @Erikalarkingolf.
Erika will be at the Cat Island Club practice range next Friday, June 16th, for a free clinic to all members of the Cat Island Club (both ladies and gents). As a bonus, we are inviting all interested ladies in the Lowcountry in honor of Women’s Golf Month. Ladies, if you are looking to improve your game, you won’t want to miss this amazing opportunity. The clinic will run from 5:00 until 7:00 PM next Friday. If you are planning on coming, please email me in advance at tmervosh@resortdevpartners.com. While our practice facility is quite large, we will be forced to limit attendance to all Cat Island Club members and female golfers who register in advance. We’ll also have a bar set up on the range after the clinic to allow some mingling of golfers and a meet and greet with Erika.
Then on Saturday, we’ve blocked a number of tee times for all of the local ladies to play the new Cat Island Club! Again, times are limited, and you must register with me in advance by sending an email to request a time. We are extending very special pricing for all ladies on this special day. Our Cat Island Club lady members and their guests will have priority on tee times, but we will have adequate tee times available for many guests that day. Don’t worry if you don’t have a full foursome, just send me an email with your name and others who are playing (please copy them on the email for confirmation purposes). Even if you are a single or twosome, we’ll work to pair you with other like handicaps to ensure that everyone has a great day of golf and enjoys Women’s Golf Month at Cat Island Club!
Last week, we rescheduled Patriot Golf Day, another PGA of America national incentive to raise money for the Folds of Honor. At Cat Island Club, our members and their invited guests stepped up and helped us raise over $3000 to help educate the children of fallen or disabled Veterans and First Responders with life-changing college scholarships right here in South Carolina. Since 2007, the Folds of Honor has awarded over 44,000 educational scholarships to these families who have served our country and sacrificed so much. We’re overwhelmed by the generosity of our members and their guests who donated dollars and gave hope to those families who have sacrificed so much in service to our country. Thank you to each of you who participated in this most worthy cause.
Last week was also our first kids’ Summer Camp. Tennis, Golf, Swimming, and Arts and Crafts were the order of the week for our youngsters. The juniors had a great time, the parents got a little break and our team loved hosting these young people. Special thank you to Cat Island Club member, Charlotte Hoffman who spearheaded the arts and craft portion of the week for the camp. The campers’ artwork will soon be on display at the pool! Thank you to all of our instructors and participants. The next Summer Camp will be August 7th to 10th. You can sign up now and gain additional information by contacting Laura Vasquez at laura@catislandclub.com. Please note, there are only a few spaces left.
Speaking of racquet sports, Tennis Director Jill Wilson will be hosting our first Pickleball Social on June 21st from 4:00 until 6:00 PM on the CIC tennis courts. We’ll provide the equipment and even the happy hour after play; you only need to provide smiles and energy. The Pickleball Social is for Cat Island Club members and their invited guests only. You can sign up on Clubster or by sending me an email at tmervosh@resortdevpartners.com. Following Pickleball, Jill will be conducting beginner tennis clinics each Tuesday from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM each week. You can sign up for the beginner tennis lessons by contacting Jill directly at jwilson0525@yahoo.com.
So, the name of the game at Cat Island Club is improving and enjoying your game. Whether it’s golf, tennis or even pickleball, now is the time to get engaged and enjoy these sports with fellow members, friends, family, future members, and guests. Ladies, I hope that you enjoy Women’s Golf Month by spending time with us at Cat Island Club. Enjoy your week everyone and I am certainly looking forward to seeing everyone soon!
With warmest regards,
Tim Mervosh
