The extended hours also allow us to host our “Emergency Nine” which is an organized group for golf and a few beverages afterwards. Our Nine and Dine is a monthly ritual during the season where couples play nine holes before enjoying the night in the dining room. The first of the season is next Friday night. It’s a nine-hole par 3 captain’s choice event so, no pressure, only fun and giggles all along the way.
I want to thank the members who attended the lunch with the GM on Thursday. We exchanged many great ideas and I always enjoy spending time with members. When we get together like that, we all come away with a clearer perspective. This brings me to today’s topic, “Why do we do what we do?”
Several years ago, I was blessed to work alongside one of the most decorated PGA Professionals in the entire industry. He set a culture with his team of, “We’re in the fun business.” “Members are here to have fun.” That simple philosophy defines the reason that we resurrected Cat Island Club in 2022. We are wired to serve others and there’s no better way than to ensure that you are having FUN. It’s fun to play golf, enjoy the pool, a great meal with friends, or cocktails with new found friends. In a nutshell, that’s all there is to our club—a place to have fun.
Our members as a group have more fun together and welcoming new members is a major part of the fun. So, if you are ever wondering why we do what we do, just take a step back and see that every social function, golf tournament, day at the pool or otherwise, is just a way for you to have more fun. Even golf clinics are meant to be fun. If you’re not careful, you just may learn something that will help you play better and guess what—you’ll have even more fun!
We have an amazing culinary team. Our kitchen staff and service staff are exceptional in providing service at very high levels and the food is nothing short of outstanding. Why? You guessed it, it’s fun to go out and enjoy a great meal with great service. Our staff is full of smiles and they are indeed contagious.
So, if you’re looking for a way to spend your life, try having a little fun from time to time; it’s habit forming!
By the way, the reason that this note is on Saturday this week is due to a very FUN event that our members are enjoying as we host members from Palmetto Club in Aiken and The Cliff’s in the Upstate. We’re honored to host the first leg of this interclub series and our CIC team expects to be enjoying the championship “trophy” after the final event in September. After all, it’s more fun to win!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone celebrating the holiday this weekend. Stay safe and have fun.
With warmest regards,
Tim Mervosh
General Manager
