Back in 2022, I had a decision to make regarding my future and how I would spend my senior years at work. From a very early age, the game of golf has filled my heart. I loved playing, competing, teaching, and watching the game. I also realized starting up a new club would be hard work that required a great deal of sacrifice. As we discussed our future, my wife said, “wouldn’t it be great to do something special for the people in Beaufort?” I realize now, almost two years later, that’s indeed the “why” in what we have done and what we strive to do.
Through Cat Island Club, I’ve been so blessed to meet so many great people. They are members but, more importantly, friends first. I love watching members enjoying this club which was restored and renovated to the beautiful property that it is today. I listen to them rave about the golf course conditions, the food that we serve and the service that has become our trademark. From time to time, we host special events for the community with fundraisers to local schools, golf clinics for our bravest Americans who served our country and countless other groups and causes that our members serve; we’re always so pleased to help. These reasons are why Cat Island Club is here, and we could not be prouder to play a small role in this historic community in South Carolina.
Our dream to build this club continues to grow. Membership continues to grow with interest from prospective members all around the country is off the charts. As we enter April, the golf course is in full bloom, the dining room is filled with smiles, laughter, and full of life, the pool will soon welcome members of all ages to soak up the summer sunshine, the sounds of tennis and pickleball racquets will fill the air.
When we sit back and reflect, I think we’ve done something very special for the people of Beaufort, both present and future. Our membership has grown stronger with newfound friends and a lifestyle that was not here just a few short years ago.
So, to all of our members who enjoy Cat Island Club so much, our incredible staff who exemplify servants’ hearts each day and to everyone else reading this note, Happy Easter to all and we can’t wait to see you at the Club!
