Clubs are so much more than tangible amenities. I love watching members come together on the golf course or in the dining room and becoming friends. Lord knows, you can’t have too many friends in your life. The club brings people together like no other place. We have a base of people who enjoy playing golf, tennis or pickleball and they naturally come together. Some of these people enjoy competition, while others are purely into it for fun and camaraderie. Both the fun and camaraderie may be celebrated in the dining room following friendly play!
When dining in the dining room or on the Oak Patio, people naturally come together to discuss common interests. I love seeing tables come together and hearing the laughter and clinking glasses under the stars. That’s what club life is. I can go on and on about the wonderful things at Cat Island Club; for those who have been reading these weekly messages for months, you know that I am passionate about this club. However, what is important is listening to members who have joined the club and actually hearing what they have to say.
- “The course is great and continues to get better each day, it’s a pleasure to play.”
- “The food is excellent, as is the service.”
- “All staff members are member focused. Our experience has been that and more.”
Obviously, we would not publish the names of our members in this type of communication, but these comments continue to tell the story of our Club—and specifically, how favorably our membership responds when asked about the Club.
This weekend, we’ll be hosting our first Club Championship for an elite field of players. We have divisions for the overall Championship, Men’s Net Division, Ladies Championship and Juniors Championship. Next week, we’ll be hosting a One-Day Member Guest where, again, members can showcase our club to their friends and family. Early next month is the fall Member / Member Championship, which is the ultimate celebration of membership for golf members. We intend to have a large time celebrating the victors on November 5th.
Our programming also includes several social and family events centered around the holidays. For anyone who has enjoyed the Food at the Clubhouse Grille, imagine the spread for the Thanksgiving buffet next month. This month, we’ll have some fun with Halloween parties and movie nights designed for family fun. In December, we’ll be hosting a pre-fixe holiday dinner on the 23rd and a Santa Brunch on Sunday (Christmas Eve). There are plenty of parties planned for the holidays and fun events for the children to build memories for life. A champagne brunch on New Year’s Eve will be followed by the first golf event of 2024, the Bloody Mary Open! Not a golfer? No worries, an Oyster Roast for all members and invited guests will round out New Year’s Day!
So, that’s just a start to club life at Cat Island Club. Like I said, it’s not always about the amenities, but a lifestyle of friends, neighbors and families coming together to celebrate every day of life (even if your personal celebration is spending a quiet afternoon relaxing).
You don’t have to be a resident of Cat Island to enjoy membership at Cat Island Club. You don’t have to live in Beaufort or South Carolina. You don’t have to play golf, tennis or pickleball. You don’t have to enjoy elegant meals or snacks at the bar to enjoy membership. But on the flip side, if any of those things “float your boat,” Cat Island Club is still definitely for you. I’m so proud of our Club and what we’ve grown to be thus far. I can’t wait until tomorrow as we get better every day! I certainly hope that you will join us soon, the holidays are right around the corner.
