The Cat Island Weekly Update: October 27th

Oct 27, 2023 | Weekly Update

Dear Cat Island Club Friends,

I rarely take naps or sleep in but, apparently, I woke up and missed October; now we’re on the brink of the holiday season. While we’ll be hosting a Spooky Soiree that kicks off with Trunk or Treat tomorrow evening, we’re also already filling up for our Thanksgiving buffets next month. The remainder of the month of the calendar year finds Cat Island Club as THE place to be with our list of fun parties and events.

As we enter the holiday season, I’d like to invite all of you to a few very special nights at Cat Island during the season. Each Tuesday during November, we’re opening our dining room to all of our neighbors on Cat Island, plus everyone reading this message. Chef Lucas has prepared a limited menu for our Tuesday Luck of the Pot night dinners and as an added bonus—you can win some cash!  We will have a nightly drawing each Tuesday during dinner. If we draw your name from the pot, and you are present for dinner, you will take home the prize money. We’re starting with $300 in cash, and we’ll add $50 each week to the pot if the winner is not present. All member’s names will go into the pot along with our invited guests’ names when you make a reservation for dinner. Remember, these Pot of Luck dinners are held each Tuesday during November, starting on November 7th. Again, reservations are required for guests by sending an email to reservations@catislandclub.com. Dinner service is from 5:00 until 8:00. Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy dinner at Cat Island Club, have some fun with friends and neighbors, and hopefully take home a little spending money for the holidays.

Tomorrow night is our annual Spooky Soiree and Trunk or Treat, which starts at 5:00 PM at the clubhouse. We’ll have plenty of treats for kids and adults alike! Come to the club for a good ol’ fashion hayride then stay for the party. Plenty of delicious food, fun beverages, and games for everyone will make for a spooktacular evening. There is still time to RSVP for this event and we guarantee that all ages will enjoy this special night.

Also starting in November, Cat Island Club will be hosting Prime Rib night one Friday a month. Our culinary team will be serving mouthwatering Prime Rib with baked potatoes and vegetables on Friday night, November 17th. Members are encouraged to invite their friends and neighbors to this special night. Chances are, we’ll be featuring some extra special cocktails during Prime Rib night as well. More details on Prime Rib night and other member-only events will be available on our Clubster app.

I also want to give you an update on the golf course. During the month of October, and now as we enter November, you can count on spectacular golf weather and equally spectacular golf course conditions. Green speeds are up and rough heights are down!  On November 17th, we’ll be hosting Guest Day for members to bring a guest to the club for golf and lunch for one low price. That event will be detailed in Clubster for members, but if you want to play that day and you know a member of the club, you may want to drop a line to say hello—or you can still join the club and bring your own guests! Later in the month (Nov 25th), we’ll be hosting a special 18-hole par 3 contest. Our course designer, Head Golf Professional, Keith Maher has a few ideas that will give you a different perspective of this golf course while each hole is turned into a par 3. That same evening will be our Lowcountry Boil and BBQ dinner on the Oak Patio. Sounds like a great way to spend a day at your favorite place to be.

We’ve also turned Veteran’s Day into a two-day celebration for America’s finest. On Friday November 10th, we’ll be playing golf, and all Veterans will play for cart fees only that day. We may have a few Marines celebrating the birthday party on the first tee later that night; we’ll cut a cake in the dining room that evening while we sing the Marines Hymn and tip a few beverages. It’s not exactly Tun Tavern, but the spirit will be just as joyous. Then on Saturday, we’ll continue the Veteran’s Day celebration with a very special dinner for ALL Veterans reading this message. More details will be forthcoming in upcoming weekly updates.

  • Each Tuesday in November is Pot of Gold night.  All friends and neighbors are welcome to attend.
  • November 10 – All Veterans are able to play golf for a cart fee only.  Welcome to stay for dinner where we will celebrate the Marine Corps Birthday and cut the cake.
  • November 11 – All Veterans are welcome to dine at the Club that evening.
  • November 17 – Member Guest Day, members can bring a guest for a discounted price for golf and lunch.
  • November 17 – Prime Rib night, for members and their guests.
  • November 23 – Thanksgiving buffet for members and their guests.
  • November 25 – Par 3 Golf Tournament, for members and their guests
  • November 25 – Lowcountry Boil and BBQ

So, the message for the month of November is clear—we’re inviting our friends to enjoy the club alongside our members during the month. Each Tuesday you can win some cash, Veteran’s Day will be filled with golf and dinner to honor those who fought for our freedom and a special Guest Day for members to invite guests for golf later in the month. November is a time when we will meet and welcome so many new friends. I’m sorry to see October go with its glorious weather, but the holidays will be upon us soon and we’re all blessed to be able to celebrate together. I hope to see you during the month!

With warmest regards,
Tim Mervosh
General Manager
